Pegasystems, a vendor of Process Management solutions, recently presented its Pega Process Fabric. According to the vendor, this cloud architecture should serve as a platform that connects all other business platforms or applications in a single environment.

This platform should make it easier to automate business processes across all platforms and used applications. It will soon be possible for employees to no longer move from application to application, but to control everything from a central point via automated processes.

Pega Process Fabric specifically combines low-code dynamic APIs, an open UX framework, UI components, robotic process automation, and data virtualisation to connect all platforms and applications. This creates a kind of new cloud-based layer in which, using business logic and business intelligence, the various workflows from the other business platforms and applications are brought together. This does not disrupt the underlying infrastructure.

Better opportunities for employees

Ultimately, the new ‘all-embracing’ platform should ensure that all other connected platforms and applications perform better. This should enable employees to perform better. For example, they can access all connected platforms and applications from a single UI and no longer need to switch all the time.

In addition, Interwoven Worklist provides an overview of all tasks, and the AI ensures that tasks are assigned with the right priority. Furthermore, the platform gives managers better insight into how work processes run throughout the company and what the status of all activities are. The platform protects IT teams from inefficient development work. By using low code and re-using software, the business itself can easily connect to the platform without the need for the IT department. This, in turn, according to Pegasystems, allows IT teams to focus on their core business.

In addition, Pega Process Fabric ensures that partners can connect to the various work processes. As a result, all systems are integrated, and it becomes possible to monitor the progress of work inside and outside the organisation, share data and automate.

Availability and adaptors

The possibilities of the Pega Process Fabric will be implemented gradually within the Pega Platform in the coming period. In the meantime, the first solutions are already available, such as dynamic APIs and data virtualisation. The Interwoven Worklists and process insight analytics are expected to be available in the third quarter of this year. Other updates, such as the combined experiences, are scheduled in 2021.

In addition, pre-built ‘adaptors’ are available through the Pega Marketplace. These adaptors connect the Pega Process Fabric with specific applications. These include the applications of ServiceNow, Salesforce, Microsoft and Google. They also connect to RPA APIs from RPA specialists such as UiPath and Blue Prism.
