Dell Technologies and Google Cloud introduce a joint hybrid cloud-based storage system to simplify the movement of data between the two environments. In addition, the infrastructure specialist has launched several additional solutions and applications for VMware environments.

The collaboration between Dell Technologies and Google Cloud in cloud-based storage resulted in the presentation of Cloud OneFS for Google Cloud. This solution enables data streams between both environments, and mainly concerns data streams for workloads such as analytics, big data, machine learning and AI.

Single interface and file system

Dell Technologies OneFS for Google Cloud combines Dell EMC Isilon storage systems with the analytics and computing capabilities of Google Cloud to use a single interface and file system. This way, companies don’t have to modify their applications continually.

In addition, both parties developed a hybrid cloud storage system that can easily scale up to 50 petabytes in both private and public cloud environments.

With its partnership with Google Cloud, Dell Technologies now enables cloud-based storage solutions for all three major public cloud environments. Previously, Dell Technologies had similar collaborations with Microsoft Azure and AWS.

VMware updates

In addition to the collaboration with Google Cloud, the infrastructure specialist also presented other management solutions for private and public cloud environments. For example, Dell Technologies Cloud Platform now integrates the Dell EMC VxRail infrastructure applications with container and vm platforms into a single system. The recently released combination possibilities between these platforms include support for a variety of VMware environments, including VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid, VMware Cloud Foundation 4, VMware vSphere 7.

Other solutions released for VMware include simplified management of private and public cloud environments for VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid and VMware Cloud Foundation 4. In addition, there are more subscription options and services, as well as VMware Cloud on Dell EMC.

Other VMware Solutions

Furthermore, VMware Cloud on Dell EMC is supported with a 42U rack infrastructure. This application increases the number of supported processor cores, memory options and NVM3 all-flash storage.

More software-defined networking solutions, such as SD-WAN are also being rolled out. In concrete terms, this concerns updates for Dell EMC SD-WAN, including appliance and bandwidth workloads such as VoIP, video streaming and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
