Netgear has announced the Orbi Pro WiFi 6 Mini (SXK30) system. The system combines a router with a satellite to easily paint a small business or home office with a WiFi signal.

The Orbi Pro WiFi 6 Mini transmits its signal based on WiFi 6, also known as 802.11ax. This allows for a theoretical maximum bandwidth of 1.8Gbit/s, although practical results will be lower. Netgear promises basic coverage of 250 square metres but offers separate satellites to expand the system. With a maximum of four satellites, an area of 625 square metres can be covered.

Features

Naturally, the system is equipped with all the modern features that can be expected from WiFi solutions for small businesses. For example, separate WiFi channels can be set up, there is support for WPA3 and up to four separate SSIDs and VLANs can be created. This makes it possible, for example, to set up separate networks for home and work use, in addition to a guest network. In order to easily add wired devices to the WiFi network, both the router and each satellite are equipped with four gigabit Ethernet ports.

Availability

The system will soon be available in three different configurations. For 299.99 euros, Netgear provides the router with one satellite. For an additional 100 euros, a second satellite is included in the box. The satellites are also available separately at a suggested retail price of 159.99 euros. Users get a free one-year subscription to Netgear Insight. This allows a remote administrator to help set up the network.

“The new Orbi Pro WiFi 6 Mini Dual-band Mesh system satisfies the demands of users working or learning from home. It is a business-friendly WiFi network, offering higher speeds, improved security, and greater coverage, thus helping enhance user productivity and mixed network security,” said Doug Cheung, senior product line manager of SMB Wireless for Netgear.
