Zyxel expands Nebula with 5G support and cloud security for APs

Zyxel Nebula has been updated with support for new network devices and security service Connect & Protect.

Cloud platform Nebula is capable of remotely managing and monitoring Zyxel network devices. Zyxel updates the platform throughout the year to support new devices.

The latest update introduces support for two new 5G routers (Nebula NR7101 and Nebula NR5101), two WiFi 6 APs (NWA90AX and WAX630S) and a 4G LTE router (Nebula LTE3301-PLUS).

In addition, the update introduces Connect & Protect (CNP). Connect & Protect is a new security service for a select number of Zyxel access points (see ‘supported models’). The service enables access points to block websites, also known as web filtering.

In addition, Connect & Protect can measure and configure the bandwidth consumption of applications. This helps locate and remove bottlenecks. Connect & Protect is managed from Nebula.

Zyxel Nebula

Nebula was introduced in 2016 to deploy and manage Zyxel devices through a cloud platform. The settings of access points and switches are adjustable prior to removing the device from the box. In short, a device does not need to be active on-site to be prepped for the environment.

Nebula is ever-changing. Monitoring and security functionality has been expanded in recent years. The addition of Connect & Protect creates the expectation that security will play an even more significant role in the coming years.
