Cisco unveils Nexus Cloud and ThousandEyes WAN Insights

Cisco unveiled updates for Catalyst and ThousandEyes WAN. Additionally, the networking giant is working on Nexus Cloud, an as-a-service solution for managing networks that span public clouds, private clouds, and edge environments.

Cisco shared the news at Cisco Live 2022. A number of Catalyst network switches are now manageable with Meraki Cloud, a management platform for wireless network devices.

In addition, Cisco unveiled Nexus Cloud, a new solution for managing networks spanning private clouds, public clouds and edge environments. The solution builds on Cisco Intersight, an existing orchestration platform for hybrid and multicloud environments.

At this time, Cisco Intersight provides a central platform for deploying apps on Kubernetes clusters and hardware from various vendors. Cisco is transforming the platform into an as-a-service solution, Nexus Cloud. Cisco hopes to launch the solution next fall. Details are scarce, but the scope of the project seems enormous.

ThousandEyes WAN Insights

Last May, Cisco shed light on Predictive Networks, a suite of AI and ML technologies that forecast network issues. During the announcement, Cisco reported that the technologies will be integrated into multiple products. Now, it’s become clear where Predictive Networks will first make an appearance.

Cisco is integrating Predictive Networks into ThousandEyes WAN, a monitoring platform for wide area networks (WAN). The platform is popular among intranet and internet operators. They will soon be able to receive alerts about future network problems. The exact release date is unknown.
