Trend Micro has further expanded the functionality of its Trend Vision One security platform with enhanced security risk management capabilities in cloud environments. Hybrid IT environments in particular can benefit.

Trend Micro wants to help companies reduce the attack surface of all their IT environments. They now aim to protect not only on-premises environments but also (multi)cloud setups with AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and other providers. The company additionally wants to protect Kubernetes environments running within these cloud environments.

New functionality for platform

Recently, the security specialist further expanded its external attack surface management (EASM) capabilities of its overarching Trend Micro Vison One security platform.

With this new XDR and risk management functionality for cloud environments, enterprises gain new capabilities for fully cloud-based agentless vulnerability scanning, enhanced Cloud Security Posture Management or CSPM and improved Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management (CIEM), among others.

In addition, the new functionality also provides more capabilities for comprehensive insight into the risks of (hybrid) cloud environments and more insight into the security risks around containers and then specifically clusters and images.

Consolidation and more insight

Ultimately, these updates should ensure that the Trend Vision One security platform doesn’t just focus on “cloud native application protection platform (CNAPP) components,” in Trend Micro’s own words.

With the new functionality, companies can now better consolidate their cybersecurity initiatives and gain a complete understanding of all (cloud-based) security risks for their hybrid IT environments.
