The move will expand the company’s cybersecurity service offering.
This week Deloitte & Touch announced its acquisition of substantially all the assets of Root9B. The purchased company is a leading provider of advanced cyber threat hunting services and solutions. Neither party disclosed the price of the acquisition.
The deal aims to bolster Deloitte’s existing Detect and Respond cyber client offering. By buying R9B, Deloitte acquires that company’s deeply experienced cyber operations professionals and its award-winning threat-hunting and risk assessment solutions.
Welcoming “Orkos” to the fold
Root9B offers a range of cybersecurity products, services and training. Its main offering, “Orkos” is a platform that provides a cost-effective way to manage and reduce risk. Orkos accomplishes this however without adding complexity to a security stack.
Deborah Golden, leader and principal of Deloitte Risk & Financial Advisory Cyber and Strategic Risk, commented on the purchase. “Commercial and government entities contend with cyber adversaries who use incredibly sophisticated technology to penetrate legacy defenses and take advantage of expanding attack surfaces,” she said.
“The addition of R9B’s business will expand our complement of skilled cyber professionals and leading technologies, while also offering our clients an advantage against adversaries.”
Strengthening clients’ cyber defense
With R9B, Deloitte says its Cyber Detect and Respond offering will continue to help clients gain a leading edge in cyber defense.
The addition will also help customers integrate fragmented security toolsets. They will also achieve efficiencies in security operations programs, they claim. R9B will also accelerate response time to potential threats and provide data-driven threat insights, they say.
