Check Point invests in code security through Spectral acquisition

Check Point is investing in code security. To this end, the organization acquired Spectral, an Israeli startup offering solutions for quick code security.

The acquisition provides Check Point with technology for securing code and cloud environments. The price of Spectral has not been disclosed. Insider sources allege an amount close to 53 million euros ($60 million).

Spectral’s code security service allows developers to monitor, classify and protect code. In addition, the service protects assets and infrastructure. With this protection, customers can secure API keys, tokens and login credentials. Furthermore, the service prevents misconfigurations that can pose high security risks.

Other Spectral Products

Another important part of Spectral is the extensive open-source community using its solutions. Other commonly used Spectral solutions include infrastructure-as-a-code scanning, prevention of code tampering, hardcoded secrets detection, source control capabilities, CI/CD security and source code leak detection.

Integration into Infinity security platform.

Check Point plans to integrate Spectral’s technology and solutions into its Infinity security platform. This platform is a part of the Check Point CloudGuard portfolio. Through CloudGuard, the security specialist wants to offer its customers a complete portfolio that secures everything, from code to various cloud environments.
