Thales is strengthening its partnership with Google Cloud. A new collaboration should provide joint customers with more security options for storing sensitive data in the public cloud environment.

The collaboration includes the launch of Ubiquitous Data Encryption for Google Cloud. This form of data encryption combines Google Cloud’s Confidential Computing solution with the Thales CipherTrust Cloud Key Manager solution. The joint solution gives customers complete control over data at rest, data in use and data in transit.

The required encryption and keys are entirely in customers’ hands. For this purpose, Google Cloud Confidential Computing provides encryption for data in use. The Thales CipherTrust Cloud Key Manager creates and manages the encryption keys in Google Cloud.

Ubiquitous Data Encryption for Google Cloud allows companies to securely use highly sensitive data in the public cloud environment. Think of gated access to data through pre-defined VMs and key management through Thales CipherTrust Cloud Key Manager, which can operate outside of the cloud.

Advantage for AMD EPYC-based instances

Both parties indicate that the solution is especially suitable for customers using AMD EPYC-based instances in Google Cloud. Ubiquitous Data Encryption for Google Cloud is available immediately.
