The name above Office 365 will be different as of 21, Microsoft announced today. Under the name Microsoft 365, users will still have the functionalities of Office at their disposal, but with the addition of some AI features.

With the addition of the AI features in Office, it should become easier for users to get a document ready quickly. In Word, this means the introduction of an enhanced tool that provides guidance on grammar, spelling and certain writing styles. This should improve the readability of sentences. In addition, the tool, called Editor, also checks whether certain parts of a document have already been written previously in the document to avoid duplication of information.

For now only Word will contain the Editor function, in the future the tool should also be made available for the web version of Outlook and as a browser plugin for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

Where the Word assistant is a new addition, PowerPoint (part of Office) already had such a function in the form of Presenter Coach. This will be updated to give speakers tips on how to avoid a monotonous enumeration of their presentation.

The rollout of Microsoft Editor will start today, with Microsoft itself expecting all users to have access to the function by the end of April: this will coincide with the change of name from Office 365 to Microsoft 365.
