Verdict

Despite the unpacking experience somewhat disappointing and the foot of the monitor new from the package is slightly damaged, we are delighted about the user experience with this UltraWide. Because the Philips Brilliance 499P9H is a curved flat screen, the monitor takes up a lot of space, and it takes some getting used to finding your way on this spacious canvas. It is just a really big screen on which we often lost the pointer of the mouse. After a few hours, however, we were completely in our element with the width of our worktop. You can work in documents in a relaxed way, search for information through a browser, and select images from the server without having to close or minimize other windows.

We expect content creators, designers and programmers in particular to have a valuable tool in their hands with this 32:9 monitor from Philips. The colour space is ample for most applications and the brightness of the panel is so high that it still provides a good picture in highly lit rooms. The pixel density is 109PPI, and the pitch is 0.233 by 0.233mm, so for CAD applications, the screen seems a good investment. Even gamers can be happy with this screen. Philips has opted for a panel with fast response time (5ms) and a high refresh rate. Would we consider this 32:9 screen ourselves? Yes, this screen has everything we need to do an excellent job. It’s a real jack-of-all-trades. Also, the investment is not so big that you have to break the bank.
