Salesforce and Anthropic are expanding their partnership under the name Claudeforce. The first concrete step is Salesforce in Claude, a plugin featuring 37 ready-to-use sales skills. In addition, Claude will become the default model within Slack. Salesforce is thus gradually transforming from a CRM screen you log into into the invisible engine behind your AI assistant.
The goal of Claudeforce is to enable AI agents to access company data, workflows, and business rules directly. “Salesforce in Claude” is a prime example: a plugin that reads a salesperson’s entire revenue cycle and can act on it. Think of meeting prep, deal health reviews, and pipeline reviews. In total, there are 37 pre-built sales skills, jointly developed by both companies.
Under the hood is AIforce, which Salesforce calls its “enterprise harness.” This layer makes business data and workflows available to any agent via MCP servers, APIs, and CLI tools. Actions initiated by a salesperson in Claude are then fed back through Salesforce to ensure business rules are upheld. An administrator sets up the connection once; authentication and permissions are managed centrally.
Headless takes further shape
This intensive collaboration and the substantial investment in Anthropic are not isolated developments. They are the ultimate proof of Salesforce’s new headless strategy. Whereas software vendors previously clung desperately to their own screens, Salesforce is now deliberately relinquishing control of the interface layer. Whether a sales representative clicks within the classic CRM environment or spends the entire workday in Claude’s chat interface no longer matters to the back end. As long as the actions, data, and governance flow through Salesforce’s Enterprise AI Harness and the Headless 360 MCP servers, the platform retains control over the underlying business process.
By embracing Claude as the standard model while integrating the Salesforce engine directly into the LLM, the company is putting its money where its mouth is on its open-platform promise. It confirms the broader vision that the traditional SaaS front end is losing relevance in favor of the robust intelligence layer beneath it. Salesforce provides the chassis, complete with validation rules, context, and security systems. Through this extensive Anthropic integration, it leaves it entirely up to the user to decide whether the chosen front end is a dashboard, a Slack channel, or an AI agent.
Tip: Salesforce is giving away the interface to claim the layer underneath
Claude on both sides of the line
The exchange with Claudeforce goes both ways. Claude is already available within Agentforce, where the model serves as the reasoning model for the Atlas Reasoning Engine and powers Agentforce Vibes and Agentforce Coworker by default. Through Amazon Bedrock, Claude also runs within the Salesforce Trust Boundary, which is particularly important for regulated industries.
Claude is now the first LLM to be fully integrated within that Trust Boundary. Salesforce also designates Claude as the default model for Slack AI, Slackbot, Salesforce in Claude, Headless 360, Agentforce Coworker, and Claude Code within its own engineering organization.
Slack as a meeting place
In Slack, Claude serves as the default model across the board. The model powers Slackbot, supports decision-making via Claude Tag, and serves as a founding partner for Slack Code. That Slack integration has recently undergone a major overhaul. Anthropic recently announced Claude Tag as an AI colleague for Slack, allowing users to mention @Claude in channels, threads, or DMs. According to Slack’s help page, Claude Tag replaced the old Claude app in Slack as of August 3, 2026. The feature is in beta for Team and Enterprise customers.
Salesforce backs up this decision with its own figures. Internally, Slackbot is said to account for 8.1 million hours in annual productivity gains, more than double the figure from the previous quarter.
Mutual customers
What’s striking about this deal is its reciprocity. Both companies are strategic customers of each other. Salesforce is the preferred CRM for Anthropic, which uses Slack as its internal work environment and also purchases Salesforce Shield, Backup, and Sandboxes. Conversely, Salesforce makes Claude Code and Claude Enterprise available to all its developers and knowledge workers as their preferred assistant.
Marc Benioff, Chair and CEO of Salesforce, summarizes the approach as follows: “Probabilistic intelligence alone doesn’t run a company, and deterministic systems don’t reason.” The idea is that Claude provides the reasoning capability, while Salesforce provides the data, rules, and governance that turn that reasoning into action.
A select group of pilot customers is currently using Salesforce in Claude. The open beta is scheduled for September 2026. Additional prebuilt skills will follow later this year. Both companies say they plan to roll out more integrations between Claude, Salesforce, and Slack.
