NetApp told us that it is launching a number of new solutions for VMware platforms. These solutions are meant to enable simplified and scalable infrastructure for any cloud service.

The new solutions include a new VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) solution: NetAppĀ® HCI for VDI with VMware Horizon 7. The company also launches NetApp Kubernetes Service (NKS) and NetApp HCI Implementation Services for VMware Private Cloud. These have been developed to speed up VMware workloads. This should make it easier for customers to run applications in environments of their own choice.

These offer optimal simplicity for powerful and complex environments.”

Five new solutions

NetApp launches a total of five new solutions. NetApp Kubernetes Service (NKS) on VMware is a fully managed Kubernetes service on VMware vSphere, regardless of where the VMware infrastructure is running. NKS eliminates and reduces the complexity of deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters and associated application workloads on premise. NetApp’s HCI portfolio also includes simple GPU-enabled nodes to accelerate the performance of 3D Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environments. The new solutions improve the performance of heavy applications.

In addition, the company announces NetApp HCI for VDI with VMware Horizon 7. This will support all major third party VDI solutions with VMware Horizon. Then there is the new H615C computer node, the latest version of NetAPP’s GPU portfolio for technical and scientific applications. Finally, NetApp introduces HCI Implementation Service for VMware Private Cloud. This will enable the implementation of an integrated solution to accelerate the implementation of a private cloud platform. With this turnkey solution, a scalable, pre-configured and easy-to-use private cloud can be built.
