“Plantronics is considering putting itself on the market.

Plantronics, an American manufacturer of Bluetooth headphones and headsets for gamers, is considering selling itself. Earlier this year, the company acquired Polycom for 2 billion dollars. Of course, Plantronics does not want to respond to the rumours.

The generally very reliable press agency Reuters came up with the news yesterday. Plantronics is said to have been told by various parties that they are interested in taking over the business. The company is now considering actually entering into discussions with one or more of these interested parties.

Strong performance

Plantronics is doing well right now. Last quarter, the company had a turnover of sun 483 million dollars. That’s a lot more than the same quarter a year earlier. This is probably partly due to the fact that the company took over Polycom, which is also doing very well at the moment.

Thanks to the merger with Polycom, the company now offers a broad portfolio of products. These include headsets, but also software, telephones and other means that enable communication via both audio and video. The company also increasingly focuses on the business market.

If Plantronics were to enter the acquisition market, this would be a sign of further consolidation of the market for this type of product. The competition is fierce, but there are a lot of takeovers. That’s not surprising, because that’s exactly what makes it easier to compete and makes it easier for companies to compete with each other.
