Box adds new features for people working from home. The “All-New Box experience” makes it easier for users to organise their files, annotate documents in preview mode and collaborate with colleagues through Zoom.

The new update introduces Collections, a feature that makes it easier for users to personalise and organise their content within Box. Users can create and name specific spaces (collections) for different projects and files stored in Box. Within each collection, users can add files, folders and documents with bookmarks without restricting other users’ access to these files.

Another addition is Annotations, which allows users to leave comments and notes in documents when viewed in the preview mode. According to Box, notes can be made in over a hundred different file types.

File Request

The last feature Box introduces is called File Request. The function gives users a secure way to receive files and metadata from people outside their organization. Even if they do not have a Box account, users send a link to request specific files; then the senders can drag and drop the required information into a form along with other requested information.

“With the “All-New Box” we go one step further and introduce powerful new tools for organizing your files and collaborating in real-time, while making it easy to bring your content into the applications you use every day,” said Box Chief Executive Aaron Levie.

Zoom integration

The new update also introduces new ways to use Zoom from within the Box environment. Users can now create a meeting from every document they work in or participate in another meeting. Previously, users had to open their Calendar or open the Zoom application themselves.

According to Box, Collections and File Request are available immediately in the preview. The improved Zoom integration will go live later this month, while Annotations will be available in July.
