Veeam has introduced the Veeam Data Platform. This platform should provide businesses with more protection, recovery and hybrid cloud functionality with single robust platform. Veeam believes in its own ability so much that even with the Premium version, it offers a guarantee that covers the cost of data recovery in the event of a ransomware attack.

According to Veeam, the data platform now presented is a comprehensive platform that offers the most advanced capabilities for (data) protection, data recovery and hybrid cloud functionality. The platform focuses on three areas; data protection, data recovery and providing the freedom to be able to back up and use data anywhere. This is regardless of the platform, solutions or environment in which this data and applications reside.

Data protection, recovery and movement capabilities, therefore, apply to data in cloud-based, virtual, physical, SaaS and Kubernetes applications, among others. The platform is also averse to any vendor lock-in, according to Veeam. Furthermore, the platform should help companies overcome a variety of day-to-day problems, such as outages, as well as ransomware attacks.

VBR v12 is the foundation

The Veeam Data Platform, in which Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) v12 is the foundation, has received more than 500 new features and enhancements. New features include direct-to-object storage backups, reliable immutability for every workload, increased cyber resilience through automation, recovery orchestration for all workloads and zero-trust functionality such as MFA, passwordless service accounts and support for Kerberos and IPv6, among others.

In addition, the integration of VBR v12 into the platform provides optimized functionality for hybrid cloud environments and capabilities for partners. The latter includes the availability of the Veeam Universal Storage API 2.0 and the new Smart Object Storage API. The first partners already working with Veeam for this are Pure Storage, Scality and Object First.

Three versions

The Veeam Data Platform is available in three versions that all feature VBR v12 and Instant Recovery; the Foundation, Advanced and Premium Editions. The Foundation Edition delivers the standard capabilities. The Advanced Edition also offers integration with Veeam ONE for more intelligent monitoring and observation functionality. This for identifying and solving backup problems before they arise.

In addition to VBR v12 and Veeam ONE, the Premium Edition also offers the Veeam Recover Orchestrator (VRO). This version adds full automation for complex recovery processes with almost zero Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs). It fully automates testing and enables full recovery with a single click, according to Veeam.

Veeam Ransomware Warranty Guarantee

Veeam is so confident of its protection and recovery functionality that with the Premium Edition of the Veeam Data Platform, it provides a warranty. In the event, a customer is still affected by a ransomware attack, the recovery work will then be reimbursed up to a certain amount.

More specifically, the Veeam Ransomware Warranty means that in the event of a successful ransomware attack, recovery costs will be reimbursed up to $5 million dollars. The warranty comes with a service level agreement (SLA) for support within 30 minutes, a dedicated account manager, quarterly health checks for best-practice operations and optional design and installation services through a Veeam Accredited Service Provider. So, to invoke the warranty as an organization, your environment must meet Veeam’s best practices and must also be actively maintained by a Veeam partner.

Should an attack occur, Veeam will deploy its Veeam Ransomware SWAT team to assist with a ransomware attack. This is a team of security experts trained in data recovery.

The Veeam Data Platform and also the ransomware guarantee are available immediately.
