Dropbox has introduced a beta version of its AI-supported search tool Dropbox Dash. In addition, Dropbox AI has also been improved and the company has unveiled the video tool Dropbox Studio.

The most important introduction is the arrival of Dropbox Dash. With this tool, users can find their files anywhere using search queries that they send via prompts. It does not matter when these files were created or where they are located.

Dropbox Dash ties different applications together in a single location and with a single search bar. To do this, the tool has connectors for Google Workspace, Microsoft Outlook and Salesforce, for example. In this way, users can find their information without having to keep switching between these applications.

Users ask the tool questions via prompts, after which generative AI collects and summarizes the required information and provides answers based on the content of the data. Users can then easily switch to the relevant applications via shortcuts and save them to a star page in Dropbox Dash.

The tool is still only available for download in beta as an app and currently works exclusively in English.

More functionality Dropbox AI

Along with the introduction of Dropbox Dash, the functionality of Dropbox AI has also been further expanded. Currently in an alpha testing phase, the tool can now create summaries of the complete data stored in a Dropbox account via a search bar.

Through a query, the functionality searches the entire account contents and extracts information from relevant files to create the summary.

Users can also now customize AI features in their account, giving them more control over exactly what the cloud storage provider does with their data. This allows them to turn certain AI functionality on and off.

The tool will soon be available an alpha test version for selected customers.
