Splunk appoints Gary Steele as new CEO

Splunk appoints Gary Steele as its new top executive. Steele is the current CEO of security specialist Proofpoint. Additionally, Splunk announced the annual results for the fiscal year 2022.

The arrival of Gary Steele should put an end to a period of unrest at Splunk. This unrest arose from disappointing sales figures and the resignation of CEO Doug Merritt at the end of last year. The departure was unexpected. Ever since, Graham Smith (Chairman of the Board) has been acting as interim CEO.

Recently, there’s been talk of Cisco intending to acquire Splunk. Both companies were rumoured to be discussing the possibility, but nothing concrete has come about yet.

Customer loyalty

Splunk hopes to reach a market value of 4.5 billion euros under the leadership of Steele. In addition, the data specialist wants to focus on innovation and customer service. Ashan Willy will succeed Steele as CEO of security specialist Proofpoint.

Annual figures

Splunk also announced the annual figures for the fiscal year 2022. The revenue totalled 2.4 billion euros ($2.67 billion) — a 20 percent increase from last year.
