Samsung is presenting its new Galaxy S24 series of high-end smartphones already in January rather than at the Mobile World Congress a month later. Among other things, the upcoming flagship model has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor in it.

The times when Samsung presented its new high-end Galaxy S smartphones during the MWC Congress in Barcelona are definitely over. This year the South Korean tech giant is hosting its own event on January 17. There it will present its latest Galaxy S24 smartphone.

Leaked specifications

Meanwhile, the first specifications and images of the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series have already been leaked. The Galaxy S24 will become available in three variants: the standard Galaxy S24, the Galaxy S24 + and the absolute top model named Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The processor in the Galaxy S24 smartphones is Samsung’s own Exynos 2400 processor in almost all countries. The U.S. and Canada are exceptions to this and are shipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. The flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra also has the latter processor by default.

The Galaxy S24 variants have 6.2-, 6.7-, and 6.8-inch displays, respectively. Storage capacities range between 128/256/512 GB for the Galaxy S24, 256/512 GB for the Galaxy S24+, and 256/512 GB/1 TB for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Onboard RAM memory is 8 GB for the cheapest model and 12 GB for the other two models.

Other features

Other features include three cameras on the back of the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24 +. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has four cameras on the back and adds a 200 MP sensor.

Furthermore, the Galaxy S24 adopts technology from the Galaxy Note, such as functionality for the S-Pen, which users may know from the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The smartphones are also said to feature extensive AI functionality, but the presentation further in January should clarify what this actually means.

Prices cheaper in Europe

Another interesting point may be the pricing of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in Europe. Apart from the Galaxy S24 Ultra, these would be lower than for the previous Galaxy S23 model. This is possibly due to disappointing sales of this model in Europe last year.

For example, a standard Galaxy S24 with 128 GB would cost 899 euros, while the same Galaxy S23 version still required a minimum of 950 euros. Only the Galaxy S24 Ultra would go up in price though, mainly due to the titanium body of this model.
