Microsoft has released the new Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26063 for the Canary Channel.

For Canary Channel Windows Insiders, the preview offers an interesting feature: support for the WiFi 7 standard. New features implemented for this include Multi-Link Operation (ML), which allows users to use multiple frequency bands – in this case, the 2.4 GHz, the 5 GHz and/or the 6 GHz.

In addition, the 320 MHz ultra-wide bandwidth in the 6 GHz frequency provides users with doubled speed, making the devices suitable for high-bandwidth applications, such as AR and VR applications.

Furthermore, the 4096-QAM modulation technology within the WiFi 7 standard delivers higher data transmission rates. This should significantly improve the quality of streaming or online audio/video meetings.

Finally, the new WiFi standard offers Windows 11 users multi-gigabit speeds. In doing so, these speeds are faster than WiFi 6E by a factor of four and up to six times faster than WiFi 5.

Part Windows 24H2 release

Microsoft indicates that the WiFi 7 feature will be essential to the major Windows 11 24H2 update available later this year. Of course, devices must meet the technical requirements for the new WiFi standard.
