Kyndryl is introducing Agentic Modernization Services-as-Software, a service that executes modernization projects through predefined Agentic workflows. The approach is based on the Kyndryl Agentic AI Framework and is scaled through Kyndryl Bridge, the platform the company launched in 2022.
Services-as-Software is a delivery model in which services are no longer performed solely by human hands, but through software, automation, and digital workflows. Kyndryl has captured its own engineering expertise, supplemented by capabilities from AI ecosystem partners, in ready-to-use Agentic workflows. These are designed to help companies modernize faster while maintaining guardrails and cost transparency.
The workflows cover infrastructure, applications, and business transformation, ranging from distributed environments and mainframes to public and private cloud, network infrastructure, software development, and IT operations. Autonomous AI agents handle steps such as discovery, code analysis, dependency mapping, target-state design, code generation, testing, and validation. Kyndryl experts and customer teams remain responsible for oversight and governance.
“Modernization is becoming an operating discipline rather than a series of labor-intensive transformation programs that are difficult to scale and disruption-prone,” says Ismail Amla, Senior Vice President at Kyndryl Consult.
Gap between AI deployment and results
Kyndryl’s own survey of 1,100 business and technology leaders reveals that 77 percent say they have already rolled out generative AI across multiple departments. Only 32 percent are actually seeing one of the key desired outcomes. According to Kyndryl, outdated IT landscapes are holding them back.
Kyndryl Bridge is the foundation. Since its launch in 2022, more than 1,400 customers have been using the platform, which generates over 16 million AI insights monthly and, according to the company, can reduce IT incidents by up to 50 percent. A new feature, agentic memory management, preserves institutional knowledge and operational context.
Customers are not locked into a single technology stack, Kyndryl states. New frontier models and tools can be deployed based on requirements related to cost, performance, and governance.
