Data centre specialist Equinix is working on a major expansion. 23 data centres will be upgraded, while 12 brand new ones will be planted worldwide. Europe is also getting some new sites.
Equinix is investing approximately $1.9 billion in the construction of twelve new international data centres and the expansion of 23 existing sites. The push brings four new IBX (International Business Exchange) data centres to Europe. The data centres are located in Bulgaria, Finland, Warsaw and Hamburg.
Equinix’ IBX data centres are enterprise data centres with n+1 redundancy across the board. The data centre specialist supports both operational use and storage-centric workloads. Equinix is committed to secure interconnections between businesses and the cloud. With the new data centres, the company is further strengthening its market position. Today, Equinix is already present in 24 countries across five continents with 202 IBX data centres.
The expansion is further focused on Asia, with data centres for Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore and Shanghai, among others. Existing data centres that are being expanded are located in Amsterdam, Paris, Stockholm, Sweden and Madrid, among others.our launch article.
