Veeam makes the new Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure publicly available. The service is easy to roll out via the Azure Marketplace.
This new backup and recovery solution helps customers and service providers move more applications and data to Azure. The new backup makes it possible to protect cloud applications and data in Azure cost-effectively, securely and efficiently. Transferred data is protected within minutes with the turnkey implementation via the Azure Marketplace. It also features integrated snapshot automation for more regular recovery points, backup to Azure Blob storage and fast, full file-level recovery.
Veeam’s backup format also provides full cloud mobility within a multi-cloud environment, including backup, recovery and migration. Backup for Microsoft Azure avoids unexpected costs associated with the service through a new backup cost calculator to optimize policy.
“According to the Veeam Cloud Data Management Report, all companies are experiencing cloud data loss,” said Danny Allan, CTO of Veeam. “Whether it’s an error, unintended deletion, security threats such as ransomware and malware, or retention gaps, customers are responsible for protecting data regardless of its location, on-premise or in the cloud.
Allan claims that Backup for Microsoft Azure ensures customers have more control over their costs and savings. “At the same time, the solution allows them to stay in control of their cloud data by protecting and managing Azure in addition to their cloud, virtual and physical apps and data,” says Allan.
Infrastructure-as-a-Service
Public cloud IaaS services such as Microsoft Azure are increasingly used for production workloads. The service provider guarantees the uptime of the infrastructure, but the customer is still responsible for his data. The customer is therefore also responsible for protection against threats, such as ransomware and malware, but also data corruption and the unintentional deletion of files just as is the case with on-premise data.
