Nvidia recently acquired Excelero, a software-defined storage specialist. Nvidia will use Excelero’s technology to enhance block storage in its enterprise portfolio.

Nvidia is steadily expanding its storage expertise, as exemplified by the previous acquisitions of Mellanox and object storage specialist SwiftStack. Now, Excelero joins the ranks.

With the acquisition, Nvidia gains NVEMesh, which allows companies to manage and secure virtual arrays of flash drives as block storage. The solution can be deployed in public and private cloud environments. In addition, Excelero’s technology offers high throughput, low latency and support for Kubernetes-based containers. Furthermore, the company works closely with all major cloud providers.
