Veeam and Lenovo are collaborating on the new Lenovo TruScale Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform. Businesses can now purchase the data protection service on a usage basis through Lenovo TruScale.

According to Veeam, Lenovo TruScale BaaS helps companies realize their data protection strategy. The service allows companies to manage big data and optimize the performance of high-availability and high-performance workloads. In addition, Lenovo TruScale BaaS helps reduce the cost of data management and protection.

The service combines Lenovo ThinkSystem DE and DM storage systems with Veeam Backup & Replication. This should result in high availability, efficient performance and robust data management, according to the partners.

Lenovo TruScale BaaS service can, among other things, provide customers with reliable recovery capabilities that reduce the time and costs traditionally required for data protection. The service also offers comprehensive options for digital resiliency, disaster recovery (DRaaS) and ransomware protection.

In addition, the Veeam-based service can protect any environment, from on-premises datacenters to cloud and edge. Furthermore, Lenovo’s BaaS service provides various options for data sovereignty, giving users complete control over data and compliance.

The joint service will be available starting next year.

Additional Lenovo TruScale services

The arrival of Lenovo TruScale BaaS is part of Lenovo’s efforts to expand its TruScale platform for enterprise customers. In addition to the partnership with Veeam, the tech giant also announced a joint service with Nutanix.

Lenovo TruScale Hybrid Cloud with Nutanix combines several Nutanix solutions hosted on the ThinkAgile HX HCI platform. The solutions include the Nutanix Acropolis AOS operating system, the Acropolis AHV Hypervisor and Nutanix Prism. This allows customers to further strengthen the security and control of on-premises infrastructure and the flexible capabilities of the hybrid cloud.

The service’s release date is unknown.
