Apple has already made updates to iPhone, the Apple Watch, and the iPad for the holiday season.

However, we are still waiting to hear what the Mac lineup plans to deliver. We have heard all the rumors about a total redesign of the MacBook Pro to be released in the fall.

Even the esteemed Mark Gurman at Bloomberg reported in his Power On newsletter that an M1X-powered MacBook Pro will be here ‘in the next month.’

Apple usually holds Mac-oriented events in October or early November, with the first M1-based Macs announced in Early November of 2020.

The predictions

Gurman predicts that there will be two M1X variants. Both will have 10-core processors with 8 high-performance cores and two efficiency cores. The difference between the two chips could be in graphics. Apple could be offering an M1X with either 16 or 32 graphics cores.

About Apple’s other Macs, Gurman says that the company is working on high-performance chips for a future Mac Pro and an M2 for the iMac, MacBook Air, and lower-end MacBook Pro models.

Rumors have been in the air all year about the next MacBook Pro redesign.

Rumors about redesigns

The first 13-inch M1 model from last fall looked the same (more or less) as its predecessor, except for the Apple Silicon in its bowels. Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro has not been altered since its release in late 2019, indicating that the lineup is due for a new look.

Potential changes may include 14- and 16- inch models with a different casing design that may feature more ports like HDMI and an SD card slot.

It may also re-introduce a MagSafe-style power charging port, with Apple expected to drop the Touch Bar, first seen in the 2016 MacBook Pro revision.
