Apple just concluded its hardware event, where it announced several new products. However, the excitement doesn’t end with those announcements, as Microsoft will also have its Surface event next week. Microsoft will most likely introduce the new Surface Pro 8 and possibly also the Surface Laptop 5.

We are now about a week away from the company’s highly publicized hardware event, a strange ‘portable computing device’ by Microsoft just passed FCC certification. Although no official confirmations have been given, the mysterious device may likely be the upcoming Surface Pro 8.

Thinking back, the same mysterious term was used by the company to describe the Surface Pro, Surface Go, and Surface Laptop. However, whatever the new thing is, remains to be seen.

The mysterious device

The FCC certification site does not reveal any details about the specifications of the product. However, if the rumours are anything to go by, the Surface Pro 8 will feature the latest generation of Intel and AMD processors to deliver the best performance and make the battery last longer.

The overall design of the Surface Pro 8 will be more or less the same as its predecessor but might sport thinner bezels.

The Surface Event will possibly see the launch of Microsoft’s Surface Pro 8, Surface Laptop 5, and Surface Duo 2.

What’s on the way?

The event may have some surprise announcements. The event is supposed to take place on September 22.

The next Surface Duo is under pressure to deliver. The Surface Duo 1 had a rough launch, shipping without outdated hardware and buggy software, which is why Microsoft has spent considerable time and investment to make Surface Duo 2 better.

It is rumoured to have a new camera system, better displays, NFC, 5G capabilities, and a snapdragon 888 processor. Details about the laptops are still coming out but they seem to deliver on many of the promises.
