Microsoft officially supports Windows 11 on the new generation of Apple PCs with the ARM-based Apple Silicon M3 processor.
With support for the ARM-based Apple Silicon M3 processors, users of these laptops and PCs can now run Windows 11 as their operating system. This functionality comes in two options. The first option is to run Windows 11 on an Apple M3 laptop or PC through Windows 365 Cloud PC.
The second option is through Parallels Desktop for Mac version 18 and 19 software. This virtualization software is officially supported for running Windows 11 for ARM and Windows 11 Enterprise on Apple laptops and PCs based on the Apple Silicon M1, M2, and M3 processors.
In doing so, the operating system can run on a virtual machine, giving users access to most multimedia features, hardware acceleration, DirectX 12 and more.
Not all features
The tech giant explicitly states that not all features of Windows 11 are available for Apple laptops and PCs. This is mainly due to unavailable virtualization support. Consider features such as Windows Subsystem for Android, Windows Subsystem for Linux, Windows Sandbox and virtualization-based security features such as VBS.
If users still want this functionality, they should buy a Windows laptop or PC or use Windows 365 Cloud PC.
Parallels Desktop for Mac v19 costs $99.99 per year for the Standard version and $119.99 per year for the Pro version.
