Anthropic aims to make compute more efficient through Decart

Anthropic is in talks to acquire Decart AI, an Israeli startup in which Nvidia has also invested. The talks are in the early stages, shortly before the expected IPO of the Claude developer.

This is according to Bloomberg sources. The deal is reportedly valued at around $6 billion. The acquisition is expected to help Anthropic address a problem the company has been grappling with for months: too much demand and too little computing power. Decart builds AI infrastructure and optimization technology and also develops its own models. According to a source familiar with the talks, that technology could help Anthropic absorb more demand.

If the deal is finalized, Decart’s team will join Anthropic’s inference and performance division. There, Decart can tackle Claude Code and agentic workloads with long context, which consume a great deal of computing power.

Who is Decart?

Decart is an Israeli company that raised $300 million in May in a funding round led by Radical Ventures. Nvidia joined as a new investor in that round. The round was valued at approximately $4 billion, bringing total funding to about $450 million.

The company has two flagship products. Lucy processes live video in real time. Oasis generates simulated environments to train and test robotics and autonomous systems. According to Calcalist, Decart had previously been in advanced sales talks in the $6-$7 billion range, with Nvidia originally at the table.

The talks with Decart are not yet finalized.
