Windows 12 might launch later

The new Windows version may not release until 2025, instead of the expected 2024 launch.

So, states reports from Windows Central. According to sources on the website, the next major update to the operating system will be released in September of this year. It will be Windows 11 24H2, which is also codenamed Hudson Valley.

The update will mainly focus on adding more AI to Windows, which is exactly what Windows 12 would do. For example, version 24H2 would introduce a more advanced version of Copilot. AI and machine learning also promise to improve productivity in apps and search.

No 2024

“Many predict that Microsoft will end up calling this update “Windows 12″ given how it’s expected to be timed with next-gen AI PCs and experiences. However, this is just a rumor, and my sources say it’s unlikely now that ex-Windows chief Panos Panay has left the company,” writes Windows Central. Therefore, the website calls the update “a major Windows 11 update.”

Here, it also refers to Panos Panay’s departure late last year. He was the head of Windows for many years but left for a new position at Amazon. So, possibly, the departure of the former person in charge of Windows has implications for the operating system’s future.

According to Windows Central sources, we can look forward to Windows 11 24H2, expected to be completed in the summer. Microsoft is also marketing this version as an AI-centric operating system. It is undoubtedly essential as more AI PCs will appear this year.
