Slack has completed the acquisition of Rimeto to add the directory capabilities of the startup to the collaboration platform.

Rimeto was founded in 2016 and focuses primarily on providing an overview of employee data. For example, the directory shows the employee’s skills, experience and current projects.

According to Slack, the addition of Rimeto should make it easier to find the right people in a large organisation, especially now that a lot of people are working from home. With Rimeto, it is possible to specifically search for an assigned attribute, such as being a manager or someone who previously worked with a specific client.

According to Slack, the directory function will be added to the application directly, but will also be offered as a standalone product as is currently the case.

Coronavirus provides growth at Slack

Like other communication apps, Slack has seen its user base grow significantly since the coronavirus outbreak. The company also introduced an update mid-March to improve companies’ internal workflows. One of the ways the company will do so is by arranging conversations in specific directories.
