Dell has announced its new 2021 line of Inspiron laptops. Broadly speaking, last year’s models are equipped with new hardware, but Dell is now also coming out with a larger variant with a 16″ display.

With the addition of the new size, the Inspiron line now consists of the following models: the 13, 14, 14 2-in-1, 15 and 16 Plus. All of these are mid-range models with plastic casings.

Inspiron 13

The Inspiron 13 features a 13″ display with a 16:10 ratio. Buyers can choose between a 1920×1200 or 2560×1600 pixel resolution. There is also a choice of an Intel Core i3-1125G4, i5-11300H or 113370H and an optional Nvidia GeForce MX450 GPU. In terms of storage, there is a choice from 128GB to 2TB and memory is available in 8 or 16GB. Furthermore, the laptop has an integrated fingerprint scanner, a 720p webcam, two USB-C ports, a USB-A port and HDMI. Charging is done via the USB-C ports.

Inspiron 14

When it comes to specifications, the Inspiron 14 offers little difference compared to its smaller sibling. However, the 14″ screen is only available in a traditional 1920×1080 pixel resolution, and instead of the quadcore i3 of the 13-inch variant, the i3-1115G4 in the Inspiron 14 only has two cores at its disposal. The i5 and i7 versions are still quad-cores. Furthermore, the laptop can be equipped with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

Inspiron 14 2-in-1

As the name suggests, the Inspiron 14 2-in-1 can be completely flipped over to be used as a tablet. The screen is the same as the one in the Inspiron 14, and the laptop can be equipped with the faster quadcore i3. Furthermore, the laptop is only available with a GeForce MX350 instead of the MX450 in the other models. A more significant difference from the other models is that this model can also come with AMD processors, specifically the Ryzen 5 5500U and the Ryzen 7 5700U.

Inspiron 15

The Dell Inspiron can be equipped with the quad-core i3, the i5 and the i7. Optionally, a GeForce MX350 is also available. In terms of memory, there are options from 4 to 32 GB, and storage is available between 128GB and 1TB. The laptop comes with a 1080p screen, optionally touch-sensitive.

Inspiron 16 Plus

The latest addition to the Inspiron lineup is the 16 Plus. This model can also be equipped with one of three different Intel Tiger Lake processors. However, up to a GeForce RTX 3060 GPU is also optionally available, making the laptop suitable for more graphically intensive purposes. The screen has a 16″ size with a resolution of 3072×1920 pixels. Furthermore, it has up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. Some special features compared to its smaller brothers include improved speakers and a double microphone.

Availability

The new laptops should appear on the market at the beginning of June. Recommended prices start between 500 and 1000 euros, depending on the variant. However, an Inspiron 16 Plus with all the trimmings could easily exceed 1,000 euros. The announcement is for the US lineup, so European offerings may differ.
