WhatsApp introduces Community feature on iOS

The new feature allows users to administer several groups at once, and will be available both on iOS and Android.

WhatsApp for iOS just released a new update for public beta testers. With that, WABetaInfo has been able to discover more about the upcoming Community feature. The publication also shared more functions coming to the app.

The Community feature was first previewed by WABetainfo at the beginning of November. The publication said this function is “a new place where group admins have more control over groups on WhatsApp, mainly to group other groups easily.”

What is a Community on WhatsApp? It is a private place where group admins have more control over some groups on WhatsApp. It is also where group admins are able to link other groups in the Community.

WhatsApp has been known to be working on a ‘Community’ feature. When the feature was first reported, it was stated that Communities could be the social media function of the popular messaging app. But later, aWABetainfo report revealed that the Community feature was nothing but a “place” where group admins would have more control over groups.

Here’s how WhatsApp Community feature works

WhatApp’s new Community feature allows admins to link up to 10 groups into one community. This helps group members to view the content of all linked groups. This is exactly like a common group chat. The admins of a community will have greater control than admins of a group. For example, community admins will be able to decide who can message on a group and who cannot. Admins can also choose to limit the messaging feature to themselves.

The new community feature will be very helpful especially for creators and business persons. They will be able to create a community consisting of people with similar interests. A business or a creator will thus be able to increase the reach of its products or pieces of content.
