UiPath gets generative AI to advance automation

Updates to the UiPath Business Automation Platform include Autopilot, Context Grounding and an IBM watsonx.ai connector.

UiPath announced this during its virtual AI Summit event. The Business Automation Platform is used to automate processes with RPA, where the new features should contribute to further improvement. The updates to Autopilot make this particularly clear. This AI assistant from UiPath, which until now had limited availability, is now becoming available as a broader preview. It allows developers to create automations and code more easily while supporting testers in planning and analysis. The AI assistant is expected to be generally available in June.

Context Grounding and IBM watsonx.ai

In addition, UiPath is introducing the new Context Grounding feature within the AI Trust Layer. This feature assists in making business data suitable for LLMs by converting the data to a format that is easy to index and inject into prompts. In this way, the predictions of generative AI improve. Context Grounding should enhance all UiPath Gen AI experiences in Autopilots, GenAI Activities and intelligent document processing products.

Another innovation to further enhance generative AI within the Business Automation Platform is through a new integration with IBM. Big Blue used the UiPath Connector Builder to create a new watsonx.ai connector. This new connector gives UiPath users access to multiple foundation models in watsonx.ai. “GenAI use cases, such as summarization, Q&A, task classification, and optimization for chat, are quickly integrated and infused into new and existing UiPath workflows and frameworks,” said UiPath.
