Dell Technologies presented the Dell APEX Navigator for Multicloud Storage service. With it, administrators can more easily manage and monitor their block storage in public clouds.

The new service within the Dell APEX subscription model offers admins more options for automated deployment and monitoring of public cloud block storage, according to the tech giant. Dell APEX Navigator for Multicloud Storage is a SaaS tool that provides centralized management for Dell storage software for multiple public cloud environments.

This includes ITOps and storage management capabilities for deploying, configuring and managing (block) storage in these environments. The tool also provides monitoring and data mobility capabilities between on-premises and public cloud environments.

Other functionality

Other functionality includes being able to optimize storage costs public cloud environments, simplified and more secure operations, being able to make decisions based on intelligent insights and optimizing workload placement. The tool additionally integrates with other well-known DevOps tooling, Dell Technologies said.

Dell APEX Navigator tool

The service uses the APEX Navigator tool. This tool from Dell Technologies’ subscription model is actually a combination between a software agent and an automation engine. Among other things, this tool is suitable for setting up VMware clusters or multi-cloud storage and can be automatically deployed and managed in the process.

The Dell APEX Navigator for Multicloud Storage service will soon be available for Dell APEX Block Storage for AWS. Other public cloud environments have yet to wait.

In addition to DELL APEX Navigator functionality for block storage, a file storage solution is also in the works. Dell Technologies plans to introduce Dell APEX Navigator with Dell APEX File Storage for AWS service in the first half of 2024.

Dell APEX File Storage for AWS itself will get another update in December of this year.
