NorthC expands in Germany: green light for datacenter in Frankfurt

The German branch of NorthC has started building a new datacenter in Frankfurt. NorthC Deutschland now meets all requirements and is set to construct a 5 MW datacenter.

The datacenter will be the third in Germany of NorthC Deutschland GmbH, part of the Dutch NorthC Group. The company already has datacenters in Munich and Nuremberg.

The NorthC network also has Dutch locations in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Groningen and Eindhoven, among many more. It also owns four datacenters in Switzerland. In the middle of last year, the Swiss network was further expanded by the acquisition of a Kyndryl datacenter.

The move to Frankfurt is a significant one, as it gives NorthC a presence in a second so-called FLAP city. Indeed, Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam and Paris have been considered the largest hubs for datacenters for years. Meanwhile, Dublin is mostly included in this range as well (DFLAP).

Striving for sustainability

“Following our successful strategy of gaining a strong presence in both regional and central hubs in Germany, entering the economically important Frankfurt region is the next step in our growth strategy,” stated Alexandra Schless, CEO of NorthC Group.

It was not disclosed when the location will be active.

Managing Director of the DACH region at NorthC Frank Zachmann says he is proud to realize a project within Frankfurt. “This shows that we deliver valuable solutions that meet the growing demand by companies and organizations for sustainable datacenter capacity.”

That demand for sustainable solutions NorthC hopes to meet more and more effectively. By its own admission, the company aims to be completely climate neutral by 2030. That means, “This demonstrates that we deliver valuable solutions that meet the growing demand by companies and organizations for sustainable datacenter capacity,” according to the company.
