HPE announces it is acquiring Morpheus Data for an undisclosed amount. A definitive agreement for the acquisition has already been obtained. The two parties had been working together for a long time.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) users will notice the acquisition by getting new hybrid cloud management software becoming available in HPE GreenLake cloud. According to the company, it signals to the market that HPE is committed to keeping its promise to take the complexity out of IT.
Guides users through the fragmented IT landscape
The acquired software includes multi-vendor, multi-cloud application provisioning, orchestration and automation for managing the lifecycle of hybrid applications. This software is a new addition to the previously added observability capabilities of OpsRamps, which was acquired by HPE last year. In addition, Morpheus Data’s FinOps capabilities will be combined with HPE’s multi-cloud data. This will allow users to manage cloud costs and optimize the financial picture of workloads.
“This acquisition is the result of a long-standing relationship between HPE and Morpheus Data that has already proven successful with customers. Together, we will be able to help more customers transform their multi-cloud and multi-vendor IT systems so they can thrive and innovate in this increasingly complex and fragmented IT landscape,” said Morpheus Data CEO Brian Wheeler. For HPE, the acquisition solidifies its presence in the intelligent cloud operations market.
Completion by Oct. 31
Although the acquisition is focused on software integration, a standalone option will remain available. Further, the company will continue supporting existing Morpheus Data customers and partners.
The acquisition should be completed in the last quarter of HPE’s financial year. That is only a few months away, as HPE closes its financial year on Oct. 31.
In the meantime, HPE is also working on the acquisition deal for Juniper Networks. This major acquisition, worth $14 billion, was announced back in January 2024 and must garner approval from most authorities before it can be finalized. This scrutiny has ended with more and more authorities and the acquisition has so far always been approved.
