Vultr is rolling out a series of platform updates to help enterprises bring agentic AI workloads into production. These include IAM enhancements, audit logs, bootable storage for VX1 and GPU instances, Cloud VPN, and a Slack app. With these updates, the cloud provider is positioning itself between hyperscalers and neoclouds.
With these new updates, Vultr is explicitly targeting organizations that want to move agentic AI from proof of concept to production. According to Vultr, many companies get stuck in this process. Legacy infrastructure reportedly locks them into expensive, complex platforms, while new neoclouds offer flexibility but lack guardrails.
Identity, audit logs, and VPN
Many of the updates focus on security and management. Vultr IAM is getting its own OAuth provider for application access. In addition, Vultr is introducing SCIM support, allowing users to access Vultr through their organization’s identity provider. Vultr is also introducing Audit Logs, which track the activities of both users and agents. Vultr explicitly mentions agents here as a separate category alongside human users.
Furthermore, a Vultr Cloud VPN is being introduced. This allows companies to securely connect AI workloads on Vultr to other data centers or client devices via the public internet. Anyone needing support will soon be able to create and update tickets via the Vultr Slack app.
Scale up faster with bootable storage
The infrastructure also sees significant changes. The VX1 instances, which Vultr previously launched with AMD EPYC processors in configurations ranging from 4 to 192 vCPUs, can now boot from local storage or from Block Storage boot volumes. Existing volumes will soon be cloned quickly, making it easier for users to replicate instances. Cloud GPU instances will eventually have the same option, with local storage remaining available as scratch space.
In addition, Vultr Clusters will feature a redesigned interface for on-demand cluster provisioning. The Vultr Marketplace is being expanded with new deployment options and more open-source software.
