The joint offering provides a new infrastructure for HPC and AI.

This week, NetApp announced that its EF600 all-flash NVMe storage combined with the BeeGFS parallel file system is now certified for NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD. The latter is an AI data center infrastructure platform, which is now optimized for NetApp’s EF600 all-flash NVMe storage using the BeeGFS parallel file system.

The infrastructure platform is made available by Nvidia. NetApp is one of multiple certified storage options. Since 2018, NetApp and NVIDIA have served hundreds of customers with a range of solutions, from building AI systems to solving massive-scale AI training challenges. The DGX SuperPOD-certification of NetApp EF600 and BeeGFS file system is the latest addition to a broad set of joint AI solutions.

“The NetApp and NVIDIA alliance delivered industry-leading innovation for years. The new qualification for NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD builds on that momentum”, said Phil Brotherton, Vice President of Solutions and Alliances at NetApp.

ONTAP AI and DGX Foundry

“As performance and data demands are exploding, NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD — coupled with ONTAP AI platform and DGX Foundry AI service — ensures our customers get the best-in-class model training infrastructure, with the full support of AI industry leaders.”

The ONTAP AI platform consists of NVIDIA DGX servers, NetApp AFF storage and Mellanox networking. The platform serves as a prebuilt foundation for organizations looking to quickly deploy AI. The DGX Foundry AI service works similarly, providing organizations with a prebuilt infrastructure for AI development. Both solutions are made possible by Nvidia and NetApp’s collaboration.

“Organizations modernizing their business with AI and HPC need performance, flexibility and choice as they architect their infrastructure”, said Charlie Boyle, Vice President of DGX systems at NVIDIA. “Our collaboration with NetApp enables customers building their own AI systems to now choose NetApp storage for their NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD, as well as use the same leading platform available as hosted infrastructure through NVIDIA DGX Foundry.”

NetApp offers tailored solutions for a variety of industries, including financial services, medicine, manufacturing, retail, higher education and government. NetApp sponsored and facilitated workshops for customers embarking on AI journeys to accelerate success while mitigating risk.
