Atos announced on Tuesday the completion of its acquisition of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system integrator and platinum-level solution partner of Siemens Digital Industries Software, IDEAL GRP, headquartered in Finland.

The acquisition will give Atos a highly skilled team of about 100 experts with double-platinum status.

The past few months have seen supply chains struggle, prompting manufacturing organizations to speed up their digital transformation, build up resilience to supply chain shocks and improve operational efficiency. PLM provides the product information central pillar through data integration, business systems, and processes.

Expertise and a presence in the Nordics

In June 2021, Atos acquired PLM specialist Processia, something that it is trying to expand further, by acquiring more expertise aligned with its focus on specific industries.

The acquisition of IDEAL GRP will further strengthen Atos’ PLM and Engineering Solutions unit while serving as a footprint in the Nordics. IDEAL GRP will now have the resources, experience, and confidence of its new parent company, to focus only on delivering the products and services mid-level and large enterprises need to deploy Industry 4.0 transformations and initiatives.

IDEAL GRP was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in Vantaa, Finland.

Pierre Barnabé, the Head of Manufacturing Industry at Atos said in a blog post that PLM systems are essential for manufacturers who want to use the data on their products’ lifecycles to make better products.

He added that Atos looks forward to working with IDEAL GRP to enable Industry 4.0 and promote sustainability for manufacturers. Jaakko Hartikainen, the CEO at IDEAL GRP said that with Atos’ reach, the available solution his company makes can become truly global and scalable.
