Cisco acquires Accedian for more network observability

Cisco acquires Accedian, giving the company access to the Skylight platform. This platform gives companies visibility into the quality of their network environments and underlying applications.

Cisco is already active in monitoring network performance and ensuring the quality of these environments. The acquisition of Accedian, of which no financial details are known, further strengthens this portfolio.

Integration of the Skylight platform

The acquisition gives Cisco the Accedian Skylight platform. This network monitoring platform includes a unified full-stack environment for network assurance, observability and data analysis.

The platform should ensure network environments and applications meet the best performance standards proactively. It should also optimize network capacity and provide solutions to the problems it identifies.

For Cisco, the acquisition should also expand the capacity of its ThousandEyes end-to-end network assurance functionality.

Previous collaboration

The two parties have worked together for some time in the Cisco SolutionsPlus program. In this collaboration, they focus primarily on providing an automation and assurance solution for service providers.

Furthermore, Cisco offers the Skylight platform for service partners in its Crosswork Network Automation platform.
