Pegasystems is going to add generative AI functionality to low-code platform Pega Infinity. This should make the platform faster, more intelligent and user-friendly.

According to Pegasystems, the new AI functionality will use generative AI technology equivalent to OpenAI’s (GPT) models. However, it is unclear if this refers to these specific models or if there are others.

The AI tooling should make the Pega Infinity platform faster, more intelligent and, above all, more user-friendly through NLP. This should further increase employee productivity.

Three use cases

According to Pegasystems, the generative AI technology can soon be used for three use cases. The first is application development. For example, App Studio could be tasked with creating a mortgage application through the AI functionality. From a list of automatically created elements and workflow steps, this solution can completely independently choose the elements needed for the application, arrange them and present them as an application. This saves employees a lot of time. Also, the generative AI functionality combined with the low-code functionality can build applications and workflows faster.

A second use case for generative AI within the Pegasystems ecosystem is to increase one-to-one customer engagement. For example, marketers will soon be able to “ask” the Pega Customer Decision Hub solution to refine the mortgage product to better appeal to specific audiences. This will make it easier and cheaper to set up specific marketing campaigns and, for example, interact with “forgotten target groups.

A third use case is that generative AI technology can provide operational insight into the various Pega applications. In this way, users get a more transparent and direct insight into all levels of their workflows based on operational data.

Tightly controlled security

Pegasystems will pay close attention to reliability when introducing generative AI technology into its solutions. Generative AI technology will be subject to the same audits and human approval processes as the entire Pega Infinity platform.

Administrators can integrate customer-specific generative AI APIs into the low-code platform, including associated licenses and centralized management. In addition, authorized staff can review, edit and approve AI texts. This should minimize the risk of biased texts, Pegasystems says.

The new generative AI functionality will likely be introduced in the latest release of the Pega Infinity platform, from Pega Infinity ’23. This release is expected in the third quarter of this year.
