Microsoft has begun rolling out the generative AI-enabled version of Paint, Paint Cocreator, to Windows Insiders in the Dev and Canary channels. The feature is based on OpenAI’s DALL-E.
The new version of Paint, Paint Cocreator, will soon allow Windows users to create digital images based on text prompts. Artistic images can then be created with just a few words to prompt the underlying AI model, Microsoft indicates. The application does get a payment model in credits.
Strict terms of use
For Paint Cocreator, Microsoft maintains remarkably strict terms of use. For example, content filtering is applied within the tool to prevent the creation of harmful, aggressive or lewd images.
This filtering takes place based on policies the tech giant uses to monitor its standards in the areas of human dignity, diversity and inclusiveness, among others.
Furthermore, users are not allowed to create images that invade the privacy of others or violate laws and regulations in their countries.
The availability of this tool initially targets Windows Insiders in the Dev and Canary channels. For this, they must have Paint version11.2309.20.0 or higher and will be placed on a waiting list. Proper Insiders can apply to the waiting list by clicking the new Cocreator button in their Microsoft account.
Once admitted, users will receive 50 free credits for image creation.
For now, the intelligent version of Paint Cocreator is available only in the U.S., UK, France, Canada, Italy and Germany. Prompts can also be made only in English.
