OpenAI recently presented a new version of its image generator DALL-E: DALL-E 3. This latest iteration of its AI-based text-to-image model and tool is now integrated with ChatGPT for creating the prompts that deliver results.
Creating the right prompts for an AI-based image-generation tool is often a complicated task. With the advent of OpenAI’s DALL-E 3, this becomes a lot easier as the integration of ChatGPT allows for better prompts to be completed, leading to better image results.
The functionality is accessible to users with a paid license from either ChatGPT Plus or ChatGPT Enterprise. Users can ask the chatbot to automatically generate prompts based on keywords that the DALL-E 3 model converts back into images, which will be displayed directly in the chat tool. Users can also ask ChatGPT to customize these images with a few words.
Better quality images
In addition to integration with ChatGPT, DALL-E 3 has received some improvements over the previous DALL-E 2 model. The model now generates higher-quality images that better represent what the prompts ask for. Especially when it comes to longer prompts, this is a significant upgrade, as parts of the prompt were commonly forgotten in the earlier versions.
More security around bias and copyright
DALL-E 3 also ensures that the underlying algorithms are as unbiased as possible to strengthen the tool’s security. The tool also ensures that requests for images in the style of living artists or images of public figures are no longer possible.
Furthermore, artists can indicate via an opt-out that parts or all of their work will no longer be used by the AI model for training (future) OpenAI text-to-image models
DALL-E 3 will be rolled out to ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Enterprise subscribers in October. The rollout to research institutes and API customers will follow afterwards. Whether DALL-E 3 will be available for free use at a later stage is unknown.
This article has been updated on October 20th upon the launch of DALL-E 3 functionality in ChatGPT.
