OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise doubles speed and removes privacy concerns

OpenAI is releasing ChatGPT Enterprise. The enterprise version is said to generate a response twice as fast and it accepts longer prompts.

ChatGPT Enterprise has been officially released. OpenAI aims to appeal to the enterprise audience with this chatbot and tries to lure them with additional functionality.

The chatbot was announced several months ago as an enterprise chatbot that would take privacy more seriously. Previously, the name would be ChatGPT Business, but with the official release, this name is changed to ChatGPT Enterprise.

Faster and extended limits

The business version is powered by GPT-4 but also improves things in this model. For example, OpenAI promises twice as fast operation, so users need less patience to get a response.

In terms of prompts, it is possible to enter longer commands. A prompt to ChatGPT Enterprise can be up to 32,000 tokens long. For those not thinking in computer language, according to OpenAI, 1,000 tokens is equivalent to about 750 words. By comparison, GPT-3.5-Turbo can handle 4,000 tokens since recently. This model recently received an update that allows companies to refine the model to their company’s needs by attaching their own corporate data to the model.

In addition, ChatGPT Enterprise works with Advanced Data Analysis without limit. That is the new name for Code Interpreter and provides the ability to perform mathematical calculations and then visualize the results in desired tables and graphs.

Cybersecurity for the enterprise

The enterprise chatbot additionally comes with enhanced cybersecurity functionalities. Indeed, in an enterprise context, there are certain requirements that the chatbot will need to meet. For example, the chatbot will be in line with SOC 2 standards and IT pros will have the ability to push cybersecurity even further via a centralized console. There, IT pros can manage all linked accounts and enable single sign-on, reducing the need for employees to identify themselves to log into enterprise applications.

In the future, the generative AI tool will receive further refinements and additions. For example, it will still be possible to link corporate data to the tool, and an improved version of Advanced Data Analysis will arrive.

Incentive to use?

It remains to be seen how sign-ups for the business version of the chatbot evolve. The release of the AI tool proved to reach a large audience, reaching the milestone of 100 million signups in January of this year. For that, the standard tool appeals to a wide audience of private and business users. Moreover, the tool had a unique position in the world, as a competing chatbot did not exist at that point.

Meanwhile, generative AI has become a standard aspect in product announcements, and companies are already implementing chatbots in their own products, some of which also target business users. Salesforce, for example, offers AI Cloud, and within Zoom, a generative AI tool types a meeting summary.

The release of a business variant of ChatGPT is however not insignificant. Recent research by BlackBerry has already shown that companies mostly keep generative AI tools out of their businesses. The reason for this attitude was mainly linked to privacy concerns. Nearly seven in 10 were found to be concerned about the likelihood of a corporate secret leaking if a language model used by the general public trains itself with corporate data.

OpenAI guarantees for ChatGPT Enterprise that corporate data stays out of the hands of the training set for the underlying language model. The same privacy concerns could already be addressed by using the company’s API, which by default keeps incoming data from being used for training purposes. ChatGPT Enterprise goes even further in addressing security concerns through SOC 2 compliance. This guarantees, for example, that all conversations with the chatbot are always encrypted.

With this, the enterprise chatbot can, on paper, unpack interesting aspects for enterprise users. About the cost of the business tool, there are no known details. Interested parties will have to contact OpenAI’s sales department for more information.
