Microsoft is launching the Copilot GPT Builder. The feature requires no programming knowledge and lets users personalize a chatbot.

Microsoft’s Copilot GPT Builder should allow anyone in an enterprise to build their own AI assistant. In fact, the feature works with instructions in written text. Users can specify the business domain in which the chatbot should work and instruct the AI to use a business tone appropriate to the company. There is more personalisation possible than these two things.

Jordi Ribas, head of Engineering and Product for Copilot at Microsoft, describes the feature as follows: “Copilot GPTs are custom versions of Copilot with specific instructions and documents for grounding (RAG) chat responses.” RAG, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation, is a method of adding personal training data for an LLM.

Prerequisites

The feature is only accessible to users with a Copilot Pro subscription. The subscription allows these users to create their own chatbots and use chatbots that developers share with them.

Another prerequisite for building a chatbot is the use of a desktop. The developer feature does not yet work on mobile. Users can, however, deploy chatbots on mobile and on desktop.

Ribas further cites where users can find the feature. “Build one interactively on the Creative tab, guided by Copilot, or directly on the Configure tab.”
