‘SAP ceases development of Business ByDesign’

SAP reportedly plans to stop developing new features for Business ByDesign, an ERP solution for SMEs.

Handelsblatt broke the news. According to the German newspaper, the development of Business ByDesign will come to an end in the second quarter of 2023. SAP’s reasons are unknown. Handelsblatt notes that parts of the software will be transferred to HCL Technologies, an India-based IT firm.

SAP has been reorganizing its portfolio and divesting products for some time. To give an example, learning platform Litmos was recently sold to private equity investor Francisco Partners. Handelsblatt reports that standing legal requirements will be respected by SAP. Furthermore, the organization will continue to resolve security issues until further notice.

Business ByDesign

Business ByDesign provides SMEs with a single platform for various ERP tasks, ranging from financial and sales data tracking to product management and procurement. The solution’s selling point is that it provides users with the flexibility and analytics required to respond to changes, increase profits and drive efficiency.
