Veeam gets Microsoft 365 Backup Storage integration for faster recovery

The new release of Veeam Data Cloud offers an enhanced backup and recovery experience for Microsoft 365.

The integration with Microsoft 365 Backup Storage resulted from the enhanced collaboration announced earlier this year. That’s when the company introduced the Veeam Data Cloud, built on Azure. With this approach, Veeam aims to develop its capabilities further as a foundation for protecting Microsoft 365 and Azure data.

Thanks to this intensive collaboration, Veeam Data Cloud now uses the latest Microsoft 365 Backup Storage technology for backup and recovery. Microsoft 365 Backup Storage is designed to give backup providers like Veeam the same experience as the native Microsoft 365 Backup solution. Until recently, the Microsoft solution was unavailable, but this has recently changed, and Veeam is one of the launch partners.

Minimizing Downtime

The joint solution will enable companies to manage large amounts of data seamlessly, with the ability to protect and restore over 100 TB of data or more than 10,000 objects. The recovery process, in particular, should benefit; what previously took weeks or hours could now be completed within hours.

Veeam also offers bulk recovery at scale to protect against ransomware attacks, for example. Any data loss scenario should be able to be addressed with minimal downtime. As mentioned earlier, recovery can take place within hours. According to Veeam, this eliminates the need for companies to choose between paying ransom or prolonged downtime due to data recovery delays.
