They now offer support for versioning efforts, Zeppelin and remote notebook use.
This week JetBrains announced its third major update series for 2021. The new release has plenty of features that data handlers will appreciate.,
To start, JetBrains has bumped DataGrip, their database and SQL IDE, to version 2021.3. This platform continues to focus mainly on facilitating version control for databases. DBAs who choose to update will find a new tab called DDL Mapping in the IDE’s data configuration properties.
Using DDL Mapping, users can now configure which real data source they should map to a virtual one that is versionable. The DDL Mappings context submenu contains Apply to and Update from commands. This, combined with a new experimental diff window, should make sure sources stay in sync.
Starting with DataGrip 2021.3, files and objects marked important appear in a new Bookmarks tool window. Also, query output no longer includes timestamps by default. In addition, users can use Kerberos for authentication in Oracle and SQL Server.
Enhanced handling for CSV import among other things
When DataGrip imports data from .csv files, it should automatically recognise the first row as the table header. It should also detect column types to sort data by numeric value. Users may change the target schema in the import dialog if needed. They can also decide whether imported or copied data is meant to end up in a new or already available table.
The data editor of the new JetBrains release has learned to display aggregate values for cell ranges. It can also present users with table views for tree nodes and let them set different filtering and ordering options when opening the same table in different windows.
JetBrains has also made the 1.3 release of data engineering plugin Big Data Tools available. This puts a large focus on work with Apache Zeppelin notebooks. Since the last update, UI parts relating to Zeppelin underwent a major revision and now include enhancements like custom colour schemes and a synchronisation status indicator in the strip between editor and line marker.
