Microsoft presented the latest additions to the Surface series in October 2018. Today Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Studio 2 are available for pre-order. As of 7 February 2019, the devices will be in the Dutch store.
The devices are the latest additions to the product line with which Microsoft is trying to be an example to the manufacturers of Windows devices. For example, it must be clear what is possible for the consumer and companies must be able to adapt their offers accordingly.
Surface Pro 6
Surface Pro 6 has a 12.3-inch display and is, according to Microsoft, the most powerful Surface Pro it has released so far. It runs on an eighth generation Intel Quad Core processor and offers up to 1 terabyte of SSD storage. Due to the large battery it should last up to 13.5 hours on a fully charged battery.
The device is available from 899 euros for the variant with 4GB of working memory and 128GB of SSD storage. By the way, these are the consumer versions of Surface Pro 6 with Windows 10 Home. Microsoft also releases business versions with Windows 10 Pro. These have an entry-level price of 949 euros, which rises to a maximum of 2,449 euros.
The Surface Laptop 2
Also new was the Surface Laptop 2, a laptop with a 13.5-inch screen. It also features an eighth-generation Intel Quad Core processor and offers a dedicated keyboard that needs to operate as quietly as possible. Again, Microsoft has done its best for a good battery: Surface Laptop 2 can last up to 14.5 hours on a fully charged battery.
The Surface Laptop 2 is available to consumers from 1,149 euros. To do this, people get a Windows 10 Home device with i5 processor, 8GB of working memory and 128GB of SSD storage. The business version with Windows 10 Pro costs 1,349 euros for the same specs.
Surface Studio 2
Finally, there’s Surface Studio 2. That device is designed for higher graphics performance and faster processing. Surface Studio 2 features a 28-inch screen with 13.5 million pixels. The brightness of the screen is up to 38 percent higher than that of the first version and furthermore the touch screen has 4,096 pressure levels. Microsoft also opts for a GPU that works up to fifty percent faster and a CPU up to 35 percent faster.
Surface Studio 2 is available from 4,149 euros for a variant with Windows 10 Pro and an i7 processor. It then has 16GB of working memory and 1TB of SSD storage capacity.
